PDS implements a quality management system in accordance with the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) and the current version of ISO/IEC 17025 to demonstrate sound management and technical competence as described in our Quality Manual, Policies and Procedures.
PDS is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a testing laboratory for specific tests; refer to the Scope of Accreditation. The laboratory participates in Proficiency Test programs and in assessments through SCC and AAVLD to ensure our standard of expertise is maintained.
PDS has full accreditation status from the AAVLD. AAVLD accreditation is an elective, peer-review process for publicly funded, full service veterinary diagnostic laboratories in North America. AAVLD accreditation is a rigorous and comprehensive laboratory evaluation that closely follows ISO 17025 standard for testing, but also assesses professional and administrative competencies of the laboratory.
PDS is also inspected and evaluated by other federal and international agencies for competencies that are either test-specific or provide assurance of the laboratory’s preparedness for foreign animal disease (FAD) outbreaks. For example, PDS is a CFIA approved laboratory for conducting Equine Infectious Anemia testing and has been designated by the CFIA as a Tier I Lab for testing related to FAD outbreaks.
It is PDS policy to provide the highest quality, cost effective veterinary diagnostic testing to our clients through continuous improvement of its staff, methods, and management system. PDS is committed to good professional practice, technological improvements, and high degree of reliability. PDS is committed to providing its clients with accurate, precise, reproducible, and timely results.
