Additional Information
Collection of fasted specimens is recommended to avoid lipemia. Samples should be collected prior to initiation of corticosteroids. Includes: PTH and Ionized Calcium. Interferences: Hemolysis, lipemia, non-heparin anticoagulants, prolonged exposure to air (affects ionized calcium; freezing specimen can help prevent mixing with air in transit), prolonged exposure to SST gel.
