General Information

  1. Prices do not include GST; this will be added to the final invoice. GST is not charged to USA clients. Prices are subject to change without notice.
  2. The Test and Services Guide has 2 price selections.
    1. Food Animal/Supported Price (SK Only).
      1. Food animals are defined as those raised for food, fiber and other by-products and include cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, emus, ostriches, rheas, PMU and feedlot horses, game farmed animals, llamas, alpacas, vicunas, ranched fur-bearing animals, meat rabbits and farmed fish.
      2. Supported Price represents a price reduction funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture and/or, in specific cases, the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM).
    2. Companion/Other Animals.
      1. All other animals are considered companion/other animals.
      2. Fees for wildlife and animals used for sport (eg. racehorse and pigeons) will normally be shown under the Companion/Other animal section.
    3. If in doubt, please contact PDS.
  3. Diagnostic test results will be made available to the Ministry of Agriculture, WCVM and, where appropriate, the Canadian Food Inspection Agencey (CFIA). This information is used for monitoring livestock health issues and disease trends as well as for teaching and academic research applications. Individual client and animal identification information will remain confidential, except as required by law for notifiable and reportable diseases.
  4. PDS shall retain ownership of all test data, reports and samples and intellectual property arising from submission unless other arrangements are made in writing at the time of submission.
  5. All diagnostic samples related to animal health and disease, with the exception of whole animals submitted for necropsy, must be submitted through a veterinarian who is responsible for the clinical interpretation and application of the diagnostic test results. Animal owners who submit whole animals for necropsy are asked to identify a veterinarian to whom a copy of the report will be sent for interpretation.
  6. The Test and Services Guide lists the average price estimated for a single or small number of diagnostic samples in most cases. The cost of research and surveillance projects may vary from these and the supported prices do not apply. Special discounts and pricing may be available for large volumes, contracts and research projects. Please contact PDS for special pricing opportunities.
  7. Note: Request for research or cost estimates are to be directed to the Quality Office (306) 966-1614 or (306) 966-7952. Please allow 2 weeks prior to deadline for quote.
  8. A $10.00 handling fee will apply to requests for PDS to hold and maintain samples for further or future testing. This fee in non-refundable. Samples are routinely held for 1 week at no charge.
